History of Our Club

Our club has a short history having been organized by Bob Jahn, CSO and Keith Ulfers, CSO, RO in October 2003. They and others core members including Mike Baca, Dennis Falaas, Steve Zerwas, Brian Thinnes, Dave Killian, Brian Droege, et al wanted to provide an opportunity for folks in the Twin Cities and surrounding counties to have indoor trigger time over Minnesota's long winter.

All being active members of the excellent Minnetonka Game and Fish Club's IDPA Chapter they decided to start the sport in November and end in April at the then Armored Fire, now Bill's North when the other shooting club's start up again in the spring. In Spring 2005 we started shooting monthly at the Del Tone range in the spring and summers of 2005 and 2006. In 2007 we moved to our current outdoor spring /summer range at Beaverbrook in East Bethel. While at Beaverbrook we have been able to purchase a storage trailer and acquire a large variety of equipment and stands to make the matches more fun.

Due to growth and other factors in 2008 Twin Cities IDPA organized as an Minnesota LLC. This legal structiure allowed us become an NRA member club and secure liability insurance to protect the club and its members. We presently have over 80 members and over a 125 folks will shoot with us in a calendar year.

Our Mission

To provide at least one opportunity per month to safely practice and hone our shooting skills with real world carry guns according to IDPA rules. We are committed to working around the schedules of other clubs to maximize your shooting opportunities. We also are committed to real world courses and doing all we can to see that everyone has a safe, enjoyable time. We plan and time our courses to minimize time spent, while maximizing round count. We are delighted with the growth of the club and remain committed to matches run in the spirit of IDPA.
